Jewel is the alias used by Jessica Jones in Marvel Comics' Modern Age. First appearing as Jewel in Alias #1 (November 2001), she is a former superheroine who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder following a traumatic experience with the Purple Man.
Jones abandoned the Jewel identity, finding the costume and the attention it brought too reminiscent of her trauma. She then became a private investigator, often dealing with superhuman cases.
While Jewel's costume involved a white one-piece suit, she typically wears more casual clothing as a private investigator, attempting to distance herself from her past as a brightly costumed hero.
